As consumers demand greater transparency from their purchases (similar, if you like, to the farm to fork movement in the restaurant sector) a growing number of beauty brands are making it their mission to ‘own’ the entire supply chain – from seed to serum.
And this is something we have proudly been doing since we started, more than ten years ago.
Born in Siberia, Natura Siberica has turned Siberian beauty secrets into a unique natural face, hair and body care range. The herbs used in their products have been traditionally used by Siberians for countless generations and were actually made into elixirs of health and beauty for the Imperial families – posh, ey!
Their ethical and responsible practices contribute to sustain the livelihoods of Siberian indigenous tribes, some 40 distinctive ethnic groups, all of whom have long preserved their own unique cultural heritages.
Natura Siberica own the largest organic farm in Siberia, where they wild-harvest many of the herbs used in their products. The farm was built in consultation with the local Siberian tribes who know the specifics of their unique land and who were the obvious choice when they looked for staff. The locals work the farm and hand pick the herbs. They are paid premium prices to do their manual plant and herb picking and, as the farm grows, new jobs are created for the local communities.
About the wild-harvested adaptogen plant – Altai oblepikha
Altai oblepikha, also known as Altai sea buckthorn, is one of the many adaptogenic Siberian plants that Natura Siberica wild-harvest on their farm and it has been used by Siberian locals for centuries to strengthen hair, revitalise skin and even heal wounds.
It can help to improve hair condition, prevent it from falling out and guard it from dandruff, dryness and brittleness. Oil of Altai oblepikha is considered as one of the best treatments for skin health. Thanks to a high content of vitamin C, it helps speed up regenerating processes which invigorates and strengthens skin. What’s more, the vitamin C in its fruit does not get destroyed by extreme temperatures!
