For Autumn/Winter 2008, Marc recommends…
Ruby Chocolate
“Autumn/Winter 08 is all about Ruby Chocolate. Creating this glossy, warm look with Naturtint is easy; simply add mahogany tones, like Naturtint Mahogany Chestnut, or Light Mahogany Chestnut, to flat brown shades. The darker your hair is, the stronger the mahogany tone you can use. If you have blonde hair, stick to rich golden tones ranging from honeycomb to peach. Honeycomb can be achieved by using different warm base colours, from Naturtint Dark Golden Blonde, Golden Blonde or Sandy Golden Blonde – or by adding a drop of Terracotta Blonde to your mix. For more peachy tones, if you usually have an all over light blonde, try adding a drop of copper, like Naturtint Copper Blonde to your mix – the more you add, the warmer it becomes”
Marc’s Top Tips for colouring your hair at home;
- Always, always be responsible and carry out a skin sensitivity and strand test before applying any colour.
- If you have roots, apply colour directly onto these roots and leave for the correct development time. Then simply take the colour through to the mid-lengths and ends for five to ten minutes to refresh your colour.
- Always remember that when you are colouring a high percentage of grey hair, add a natural base colour.
- Take your skin tone, eye colour, lifestyle and wardrobe into consideration when choosing a new shade to help avoid a colour disaster!
- Apply a thin layer of oil-based cream around the hairline to avoid staining the skin, taking care to avoid the actual hair, as this can prevent the colour from taking.
Marc’s Natural Naturtint Ladies…
Mahogony Blonde“To create Marie-Clare’s gorgeous copper colour, I used two Naturtint shades - Terracotta Blonde (7C) and Mahogany Blonde (7M). I simply placed half of the Terracotta Blonde Colourant bottle into a mixing bowl, added in half of the Mahogany Blonde Colourant bottle, and then a full bottle of the Colour Developer. Using a brush, I made sure I mixed all three parts thoroughly and applied it all-over Marie-Clare’s hair working my way from the roots outwards.”
Golden Chestnut“Julie’s colour was simple and straightforward to create - I used Naturtint in Golden Chestnut (4G) all over from root to tip to cover her greys; left it to develop for the appropriate time and then simply washed it out. Julie’s hair has a delicious chocolate brown shade to it, which I think looks fab!”
Golden Blonde“With Merren, I wanted to give her a really stunning golden blonde colour, which I created using two Naturtint colours - Light Dawn Blonde (10N) and Sandy Golden Blonde (8G). I used a full bottle of the Light Dawn Blonde Colourant and mixed it with half of the Sandy Golden Blonde Colourant, along with the Colour Developer, into a bowl. This gave Merren a really natural golden blonde look.”
